The Fern Ecotel – Jaipur
The city of Jaipur is younger than most people believe, with a population of only 286 people (as of 2013). It’s also uncommon to know the year a city was founded; nevertheless, Jaipur, named after its creator Maharaja Jai Singh II, was founded in 1727 and is India’s first planned, ‘modern’ metropolis. Jaipur’s history is dominated by legends of warriors, Rajput clan honour, chivalry, and continuous conflicts among themselves, the Mughals, British, and virtually everyone else as the capital of Rajasthan, the land of kings. These legends are still very much alive and well. It is part of Jaipur’s cultural heritage.
